      Standards

Lex Persona's software offering is entirely built on recognized technical standards.

The LP7 digital evidence format is based on the XAdES (XML Advanced Electronic Signature) and CAdES (CMS Advanced Electronic Signature). CMS stands for Cryptographic Message Syntax which is an evolution of the PKCS#7 standard. CMS is implemented by S/MIME.

The XAdES standard is defined by ETSI under the document referenced TS 101 903.

The CAdES standard is defined by ETSI under the document referenced TS 101 733.

Finally, an important characteristic of the LP7 format is that it makes provision for each signature, to have an associated timestamp (optional) and transactional token (optional). The timestamping feature as implemented by the LP7 kernel is strictly compatible with the standard defined by RFC 3161.

The LP7 digital evidence format is also compliant with the X509V3 certificate standard.

The cryptographic library used by the LP7 kernel is an open source library called Bouncy Castle, developed in Java(tm) and available at www.bouncycastle.org. It is widely used by Internet developers as well as by numerous independant software vendors, companies and administrations. Lex Persona actively and regularly contributes to updating and enhancing this library.
